This project involved the removal of asbestos-containing insulation board (AIB) from shower blocks and the completion of non-licensed works, including cement debris removal and encapsulation of AIB soffits in residential bungalows. Licensed works were carried out under fully controlled conditions within a purpose-built enclosure, while non-licensed tasks were completed under locally controlled conditions.
The project began with enclosure formation and a pre-clean to allow a pre-approved M&E contractor to carry out vital isolations. Once works were completed, a four-stage clearance process, including reassurance air testing, was undertaken to ensure safe reoccupation.
The project was completed successfully, with all asbestos removed or encapsulated safely, compliance with regulations maintained, and residents able to return with confidence in the safety of the areas.
