Clifford Devlin were appointed to carry out the non-licensed works in the form of floor tiles, bitumen adhesive, textured coating and cement ACMs and licensed asbestos removal works in the form of insulation boarding. The licenced works were carried out under fully controlled conditions and the non-licenced were carried out under locally controlled conditions. Following the works, a 4-stage clearance and reassurance air testing was carried out for reoccupation by a UKAS accredited analytical company.
The overall size of the site was over 27,000 square metres, the site was previously a marine engineering manufacturing and testing site which closed in 2021 following 150 years of operating in Colchester. The site throughout was made up of industrial workshop spaces, testing facilities and office space.
Working in partnership with our client, Clifford Devlin were dedicated to delivering the highest quality of work while minimising disruption to the local community, and local wildlife in the form of a bat colony in one of the out buildings.
These works formed part of a larger demolition project with our client, to accommodate local housing regeneration in Colchester to build up to 130 new homes.
