Our Construction, Electrical and Mechanical division successfully completed restoration works at Compressor House in East London, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of this historic building.
The project involved the careful removal and protection of the existing metal handrails to allow for refurbishment and re-use. We then undertook the demolition of the existing brickwork, entrance steps, and landing slabs, preparing the area for full reconstruction.
New entrance steps and associated brickwork were constructed using matching imperial bricks, with brick bond and pointing carefully replicated to ensure a seamless integration with the original façade. New slabs were supplied and laid to form a refreshed and durable landing area. Upon completion of the structural works, the original metal handrails were reinstalled and redecorated, restoring both function and appearance.
As part of the upgrade, new low-level lighting was installed to improve visibility and ensure the fire exits are compliant, safe, and fit for purpose.
The completed works have fully revitalised the entrance, blending traditional craftsmanship with long-term durability. Delivered for a repeat client, the project forms part of the wider transformation of Compressor House into a landmark community hub, supporting arts, performance, exhibitions, and digital skills training for local residents.
We are proud to have played a role in bringing new life to this important East London building and contributing to a meaningful community regeneration project.
