Clifford Devlin were awarded the Phase 2 refurbishment works and renewal of all mechanical services to the office areas for one of our major healthcare clients, as part of a wider programme to modernise operational facilities while maintaining uninterrupted frontline services.

The project was delivered within a fully operational patient transport hub, making careful planning and coordination essential throughout. Working in a live healthcare environment required a considered approach to ensure that critical patient transport services remained fully operational at all times. Our team implemented extensive segregation measures and carefully managed working areas to minimise disruption, while maintaining safe access and supporting the day-to-day running of the facility. Close collaboration with the client’s operational team ensured works were carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The refurbishment involved a comprehensive upgrade of both infrastructure and staff facilities. Fire safety improvements formed a key element of the project, including the installation of new fire compartmentation and 1-hour fire-rated doors and frames to enhance overall building safety and compliance. Staff welfare areas were significantly improved through the installation of a new kitchen, toilets, showers, and changing cubicles, creating more functional and comfortable facilities for site personnel.

Internally, the office environment was transformed through the replacement of flooring and ceilings alongside full redecoration works, delivering a modern and durable workspace. Electrical services across the facility also underwent full testing, followed by targeted remedial works to ensure compliance with current standards and regulations. External remodelling works were completed to further enhance site safety and operational efficiency, including the installation of a new dedicated gas storage area.

Despite the challenges associated with working within a live operational environment, the project was successfully delivered while maintaining uninterrupted service throughout. The completed refurbishment provides a safer, more efficient, and improved working environment that supports the continued delivery of essential patient transport services.
