Clifford Devlin has started work on the demolition phase of a major building project in London’s ‘theatre land’. Crown House, a 10-storey building which was formerly occupied by the Bank Restaurant and offices is to be redeveloped top quality grade A offices with a large A3 restaurant, retail accommodation and underground parking. The development involves the conversion of two existing buildings into one single structure.

To maintain the historical character and continuity of the area Clifford Devlin, an expert in façade retention, has been commissioned to design a scheme to support and retain the existing stone elevations on Aldwych, Kingsway and Drury Lane.

Existing service tunnels two metres in diameter provide another major obstacle to overcome during the demolition phase which is expected to take 9 months to complete.
