Clifford Devlin have been granted another three year asbestos licence by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), that will continue our current licensing arrangement through until June 2027.

Since our last renewal, Clifford Devlin’s asbestos division have gone from strength to strength, incorporating sustainable business practices while maintaining high standards of work.

After 32 years working from Bow, in East London, Clifford Devlin relocated the Head Office to a purpose-built space in Thurrock, Essex. Within this space, we now have an Asbestos Waste Transfer Station with the ability to hold 32 cubic metres of asbestos waste on a daily basis and can be used to bulk up smaller quantities of asbestos waste from any of our removal projects, thereby reducing transport costs for clients and enhancing the carbon-footprint of our works. The new site also houses a substantial training facility permitting both class room and practical training capability.

In addition, our asbestos division has taken a significant step towards a paperless digital system to record all activity on our removal projects, to further reduce our carbon footprint. In work supervision is managed using Assure360, allowing virtually all site records to be completed electronically and instantly updated, although some permits still need to be recorded in hard copy. Data from these records is used to inform our safety management dashboard, tabled at our monthly Asbestos Management Team meetings.

Assure360 allows Clifford Devlin to define the management reports needed whether it is supplier statistics, trends analysis, staff competencies or asbestos monitoring. This one system for all, allows Clifford Devlin to prioritise tasks and make robust decisions by improving safety and potentially saving time.

Clifford Devlin’s high standards of work have also been recognised on a national level by the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) and the British Demolition & Asbestos Awards. Receiving the Platinum Award in recognition of having been awarded five consecutive ARCA Site Audit Gold Awards at the ARCA AGM in October 2023 and Asbestos Contractor of the Year Award 2023 at the British Demolition & Asbestos Awards, are two of a number of highlights from our current licensing period.

Dan Tooley, Asbestos Divisional Manager ‘’A very well done and thank you to each and every one of the asbestos team for your unwavering dedication and hard work. The teams willingness to go above and beyond, to support each other and to always strive for excellence is what sets us apart. It’s evident that our collective efforts are making a real difference and I have no doubt that we will continue to achieve great things together.’’

The next three years hold significant potential for further advancements within the division and we will continue to be driven by growing sustainability awareness and a recognition of the importance of ESG.
